Spanish service Atresmedia is bringing two of its channels to the UK.
‘Spanish Viva’ will be available through Virgin Media, making Atresmedia the first Spanish private network available in the UK market.
The move, according the Hollywood Reporter, comes following a growth in Spanish migration to the UK, which has shot up 117 per cent in the last four years. The Migration Observatory reported 137,000 Spanish workers in the UK from April 2016.
Mar Martinez Raposo, international director for Atresmedia channel Antena 3 Internacional, said, “We are very happy that for the first time our channels will be accessible in the British market, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the birth of Antena 3 Internacional.”
Virgin Media, which is launching its new 4K set-top box in ‘the second half of 2016’, has been looking to invest in foreign-language offerings.
