The 11th annual AIB Awards was held last night at its annual gala dinner. The awards honour excellence in factual TV, radio and online programming worldwide and are presented by the Association for International Broadcasting, a global knowledge network for radio and TV outlets broadcasting across borders.
This year’s AIBs were hosted by CNN’s Hala Gorani, anchor of The World Right Now with Hala Gorani, and held again at LSO St. Luke’s in London
The awards featured the bestowal of a special AIB Lifetime Achievement Award for veteran American broadcaster Larry King. King started in radio in Miami in 1957. His CNN interview show, Larry King Live ran for 25 years. King has also done extensive fund-raising for charities, including his Larry King Heart Foundation.
Simon Spanswick, AIB CEO said: ”The entries in 2015 demonstrated the continuing dedication of programme makers and journalists to uncover important and challenging stories, to take risks, both personally and professionally and to work expertly to investigate and explain complex subjects. The entries educate, entertain and engage their audience using the latest technologies at their disposal. We have seen important and sometimes harrowing stories brought to light, the power of the voice to captivate as well as exciting and engrossing coverage of sporting events. Once again the judges have had the hard but rewarding search for the best out of a very strong set of entries.”
