Hamlet DigiScope DS900 delivered to TVT for BBC caption encoding

Versioning, localisation and media supply services expert TVT has selected Hamlet’s DigiScope DS900 to monitor both SD and HD signals in the transmission chain for the encoding of Closed Captions at BBC World.

Versioning, localisation and media supply services expert TVT has selected Hamlet’s DigiScope DS900 to monitor both SD and HD signals in the transmission chain for the encoding of closed captions at BBC World.

Launched earlier this year at NAB, the DigiScope DS900 is a 1U, half-rack enclosure, with the capacity to provide simultaneous monitoring of up to four channels of 3G, HD or SD SDI inputs, with EYE pattern if required.

The deal was for one initial unit, which was installed at TVT in May. There is also an option to purchase further units as the anticipated requirement to insert closed captions in additional streams of BBC World increases.

Kim Thesiger, managing director of TVT, commented: “After assessing all available products on the market, we chose the Hamlet DS900 for its exceptional combination of functionality and value for money. We required a scope which was capable of handling both HD and SD signals as well as multiple signals from different feeds and the ability to access real time information about the feeds remotely. The Hamlet solution perfectly met our needs.”

Steve Nunney, managing director of Hamlet Video International, added: “We know that our clients like TVT and installations such as those at BBC World are looking for high quality at the lowest possible cost, and the DigiScope DS900 was designed with these two requirements in mind.”
