Viacom has confirmed a first mobile distribution deal for Paramount+ – an agreement with Telenor to make the video streaming product available as a premium service to its mobile subscribers in Sweden as part of its new ‘Telenor Stream Film och Serier’ streaming service.
It is the first deal that Viacom has signed to make Paramount+ available to mobile subscribers.
The service launched at the end of 2017 as a set-top box (STB) and TV Everywhere application available to higher tier subscribers of a number of pay TV operators across Scandinavia.
The launch of Paramount+ represents the first time Paramount Pictures’ TV rights have been aggregated for VoD access with TV content from MTV and Comedy Central, which are also owned by Viacom.
“Scandinavia is one of the world’s most advanced video markets, with rocketing demand amongst younger audiences for on-the-go, as well as on-demand, access to their favourite TV shows and movies,” said Andrea Sahlgren, general manager for Viacom’s Nordic operations.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Telenor to allow mobile subscribers access to the fantastic range of premium content available through Paramount+ for the first time, without the need for an additional pay TV subscription.”
