The Collectv has appointed Peter Russell as its new managing director.
Aiming to strengthen its senior leadership team, the Emmy award-winning broadcast solutions and workflows consultancy announced the appointment as it enters its next growth phase.
In a career spanning almost three decades, including 20 years of technical, strategic and operational experience in the broadcast and production sector, Russell has previously led technology operations at GMTV as well as directing post production and production technology at The London Studios. His most recent role as director of technology at ITV Studios saw him oversee global advances in technical production across genres including factual, entertainment, drama, daytime, news and sport.

As MD, Russell will oversee the day-to-day running of the business, focusing on maintaining The Collectiv’s position as a market leader while ensuring it continues to set high standards, said the company. He will drive a customer-centric and collaborative focus, enabling the team to support the company’s growth plans.
Commenting, Russell said, “I’m thrilled to be joining The Collectv at such an exciting time of growth. The company has consistently made a significant impact across the industry, earning a reputation for excellence that I’ve long admired. I’m looking forward to helping drive the next phase of growth and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of the broadcast and post-production industries. It’s a fantastic time to be part of this journey.”
Russell also serves on the RTS Digital Innovation Board, mentors through RTS Scholar Bursary Scheme, chairs the ITV Ambassadors programme and is an advocate of Rise.
His appointment comes as the executive team transitions into C-suite roles. Co-owner and commercial director, Soraya Robertson takes on the new role of chief commercial officer while current MD and co-owner Chris Sarson becomes CEO.
“Russell’s reputation and proven track record in driving innovation, building high‑performing teams, and his outstanding technical and operational expertise make him the ideal choice to steer The Collectv into its next phase,” said Sarson.
