Patent deal resolves Nokia and Amazon litigation

The confidential agreement ends multi-jurisdictional litigation between the parties over the issues

Nokia has announced it has signed a patent agreement with Amazon.

The agreement was reached following a number of lawsuits brought by the company in which it alleged Amazon Prime Video and others had violated its streaming video compression and delivery patents.

The agreement – the details of which remain confidential – resolves all litigation between the two parties across all jurisdictions, said Nokia.

Nokia filed a number of lawsuits in the UK, Germany, European Unified Patent Court, United States and India in 2023, accusing Amazon of infringing its video streaming patents.

Commenting on the deal, Arvin Patel, chief licensing officer new segments at Nokia, said, “We are pleased to have reached agreement on the use of Nokia’s video technologies in Amazon’s streaming services and devices.”
