IBC has opened its call for submissions to the 2026 Technical Papers programme.
Open to entries from across the broadcast, communications, electronic media and entertainment space, IBC Technical Papers features unpublished disclosures of original research and innovation focusing on solving real-world problems. Submissions are welcome from any discipline and open to all, whether independent or representing a global organisation.
The 2026 programme aims to build on last year’s success, which included a broad range of topics such as facial recognition and machine learning in news; generative AI for targeted advertising; large scale concurrent streaming to millions of viewers; XR and neural radiance fields; video coding; 5G field trials and sustainability.
Mike Crimp, CEO of IBC, said, “IBC is world-renowned for the quality, timeliness, and innovative subject matter of its Technical Papers. They are where genuine technological progress meets real-world application, and where the industry’s brightest minds share knowledge that benefits the entire media ecosystem. We encourage researchers, engineers, and practitioners from every discipline to take part in IBC2026 and help shape the next chapter of our industry.”
At this stage, entrants should provide a 300 word synopsis via IBC’s website outlining what is unique about the research and its practical relevance to the industry. Submissions will be reviewed by an expert panel, and papers that go forward for presentation at IBC2026 will be eligible for the Best Conference Paper Award.
