Arena Television ceases trading

Arena, which officially launched in 1988, was a key part of the UK's outside broadcasting industry, working with numerous clients across sport, news and other genres

Arena Television, one of the largest independently owned and operated outside broadcast providers in the United Kingdom, has confirmed to TVBEurope that it has ceased trading.

The company informed staff and freelancers of the news yesterday and has since deactivated its website and social media accounts.

A spokesperson for Arena told TVBEurope no further details would be announced.

Arena, which officially launched in 1988, was a key part of the UK’s outside broadcasting industry, working with numerous clients across sport, news and other genres.

In 2005, the company launched what it described as Europe’s first HD truck, moving on to embrace 4K in 2016 when it spent £20 million on three trucks with a flexible IP-based production infrastructure.

Earlier this summer Arena worked with Maidstone Studios to supply all equipment required for ITV’s coverage of Euro 2020, including cameras, edit suites and recording equipment, which were all supported by the IP core in Arena’s OBY OB Truck.
