YouTube planning new ‘Shorts’ video feed

Wants to take on TikTok's dominance of the short-form user-created video

YouTube is reportedly planning to launch its own rival to TikTok, which will be known as Shorts.

According to The Information, YouTube is planning a Shorts feature that will be available in its mobile app.

The feed is expected to include user-created short videos along with tools to make them.

According to App Annie, TikTok has grown by more than 125 per cent in the last two years. It had approximately 842 million first-time downloads from both Apple and Google’s app stores over the last 12 months — a 15 per cent increase year over year.

It’s thought Shorts could launch later this year.
