World’s first programme of 8K screenings announced

Scheduled for 9th April at MIPTV 2019

The world’s first programme of 8K screenings has been announced, due to take place at MIPTV 2019.

On 9th April at the Sony UHD Theatre in Cannes’ Palais des Festivals, NHK will screen segments from its Two Hour Tour series, as well as a co-production with the Château of Versailles called The Palais of Versailles and a digitally remastered 8K version of My Fair Lady.

Further 8K content to be screened includes a musical tribute to Michel Legrand from France’s Paramax Films, Volcanoes and Rocky Mountain Express from the USA’s K2 Studios, and clips from Japan’s Cold Case from broadcaster WOWOW.

Director and cinematographer Peter Chang will also showcase his latest UHD 8K output including Cuba and San Francisco Flow, while NASA TV will screen 8K footage captured from the International Space Station.
