UK broadcasters compete for Champions League rights

UEFA could reveal winners by the end of today

British football fans could see a change in the way they watch the Champions League with a possible announcement about a change in who owns the broadcast rights today.

UEFA had set a 10:30am deadline for broadcasters to submit their bids for various packages for the competition between 2021 and 2024, including selling the final as a stand-alone event for the first time.

BT Sport currently has the exclusive Champions League rights in the UK, paying a record £1.18 billion for a three-year deal in 2017.

It’s thought the new packages could attract other bidders, including Sky, ITV and DAZN.

UEFA could reveal who has won each package by the end of today.
