Time Warner launches Boomerang SVoD platform

Time Warner and Warner Bros are collaborating on a new SVoD platform dedicated to new and classic animation series.

The Boomerang subscription service will launch in the US this spring.

It will include the huge Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes and MGM animation library of over 5,000 titles, featuring Bugs Bunny, Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry, The Jetsons and The Flintstones, with content rotated weekly.

The platform will also launch new series including Warner Bros. Animation’s Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, inspired by the L. Frank Baum classic; and Wacky Races, a new version of the Hanna-Barbera classic featuring Dick Dastardly and Muttley.

The service will be available web, iOS and Android at launch and expects to expand to Amazon, Roku and Apple TV.

“Boomerang is a beloved brand that has always had multi-generational appeal and some of the greatest animated shows ever created,” said Christina Miller, president, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Adult Swim.

“Our on-going partnership with Warner Bros. around this new premium service continues our strategy of making sure our fans are engaged with fresh and fun content whenever and wherever they want it.”
