STV has launched ad-free SVoD service STV Player+, its first venture into the pay-TV market.
STV already offers a free catch-up platform but this is the network’s first subscription service, allowing subscribers to see a range of programming in full HD without ads.
Users will also be able to watch live content and download their favourite programmes for offline viewing at home or on the move. In addition, STV Player+ will allow subscribers to view STV content in Europe for the first time.
Available on iOS with a free seven-day trial, the SVoD will house entertainment shows (Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity), boxsets (Cold Feet and Manhunt), and sporting events (Six Nations and the 2019 Rugby World Cup).
STV digital MD Richard Williams said: “We are delighted to be able to enhance our offering to STV viewers. Subscription viewing is growing, and the STV Player+ offers our viewers even greater choice and flexibility in how they watch STV, ensuring that they can access their favourite STV shows however and whenever they want, whether at home or abroad.”
