Sky is launching a new set-top box this month.
The Sky Now TV Smart Box has been described as the company’s most advanced unit, capable of paying a wide variety of paid content as well as offering over 60 free-to-view channels.
The new unit will feature a new user interface, including a ‘content-rich homepage’ with a best of catch-up section, along with further editorial recommendations.
“The launch of our new homepage on the Now TV Box will take it easier than ever for our customers to quickly find and watch their favourite shows,” said Now TV director Gidon Katz.
“And when the new Now TV Smart Box arrives, it will be the perfect one-stop box to get a contract-free, flexible way of watching the best of pay TV and free-to-air content all in one place.”
Developed in association with Roku, the box will be the first of a new range that enables operators to offer linear and streaming services through a single device.
“With the new Roku Powered hybrid set top box we are enabling operators to bridge the gap between linear broadcast and streaming TV services,” said Andrew Ferrone, vice president of pay TV at Roku.
“Many consumers have a hybrid viewing pattern and leverage both traditional broadcast and on demand or catch-up services.”
