Sky Q to double UHD content

Sky Q app to launch on Smart TVs and third-party devices

Sky has announced a number of innovations to its Sky Q platform, including a promise to double the amount of UHD content available to content.

Sky expects to make 1,000 hours of UHD content available this year and is also planning to launch HDR, although no date was given.

Other developments for the platform include extending voice functionality to give personalised recommendations; personalising the sports section to reflect viewers’ favourite sports and teams; and launching the Sky Q app on Smart TVs and third-party devices.

Jeremy Darroch, group chief executive, Sky said: “With this suite of innovation, we are taking the user experience to another level – and we won’t stop there. We will continue enhancing Sky Q and finding new ways to bring customers more of what they love, and in so doing ensure we appeal to every household and every one in that household.”
