Sky Italia reinstates Mediaset channels

Channels return some three years after retransmission row saw them dropped

Mediaset’s channels have returned to the Sky Italia platform some three years after a row over retransmission fees saw them dropped.

The launch follows a new distribution agreement between the two companies that saw the initial launch of Mediaset’s flagship channel Canale 5 in September on Sky.

As of this week, Sky customers can also receive the Mediaset channels Italia 1, Rete 4, Canale 20, La 5, Mediaset Extra, Italia Due, Top Crime, Iris and Focus.

Last year, Mediaset agreed a content distribution deal with Sky giving satellite viewers access to Mediaset Premium’s cinema and TV series channels at no additional cost and allowed Sky to launch a pay-TV service via DTT.
