Ofcom places sanction on Starz

Channel found in breach of the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising

Ofcom has imposed a sanction on Starz after the channel violated broadcasting rules.

The Ofcom investigation found that the channel repeatedly broadcast a viewer-submitted image that the regulator deemed “highly offensive and antisemitic.”

It concluded that “this was a serious breach of the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising which warranted the imposition of a statutory sanction.”

As a sanction, Starz will have to broadcast a statement of Ofcom’s findings on a date and in a form to be determined by the regulator.

Although the licence for Starz was held by CSC Media Group Limited when the violation occurred, the sanction applies to its current owner, Trace UK World Limited.
