Netflix foresees no programming interruptions in the immediate future amid coronavirus-related disruption, according the company’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos.
Sarandos said the streamer works “pretty far ahead” on delivering new shows, so does not expect any disruption in programming over the next few months, but could do later in the year.
“It’s been a massive disruption,” he added. “Every of one of our productions around the world are shut down. It’s unprecedented in history.”
Sarandos also noted that “all viewing is up” on the platform. “The system has been very robust and can help out a lot of people,” he said. “People certainly are watching a lot more Netflix.”
Along with YouTube, Netflix has reduced its bit rates in Europe in order to preserve bandwidth. Sarandos said the difference in visual quality to the consumer is barely noticeable.
