Net Insight aims ‘to make the user the producer’

Sye 360 allows broadcasters to synchronise a live OTT feed with the linear broadcast

Net Insight has launched its new live and synchronised 360-degree OTT streaming solution.

Per Lindgren, SVP, live OTT, Net Insight, told TVBEurope the new ultra-low latency solution will provide a live feed to all viewers simultaneously, making “the user the producer, and getting them engaged and activated.”

Sye 360 allows broadcasters to synchronise a live OTT feed with the linear broadcast, making it possible to offer second screen companion content that “integrates seamlessly with the first screen experience.”

Lindgren said the new service will work especially well with sports and music events where broadcasters could have “a couple of 360-degree cameras at the venue.”

“Sye will enable high quality, 360-degree live streaming despite today’s bandwidth limitation in home network environments, truly opening up for 360-degree streaming apps on your phone or tablet device and enabling content owners and rights’ holders to engage and connect with their fans in completely new ways,” explained Lindgren.

Net Insight has partnered with Elemental to provide live, ultra-low latency transcoding for Sye. In addition, the company has a partnership with Voysys to achieve sub-second, live stitching of the camera feeds.

As part of its NAB 2017 announcements, Net Insight has also unveiled Connector Marketplace, a “one-stop” platform for booking and scheduling cloud-based resources globally.

The marketplace will allow cloud-service providers to offer end-to-end services along the workflow including transcoders and encoders, file-transport, quality control graphics and insertion, distribution and live-streaming.

Lindgren added: “It doesn’t matter if the users are in the same building or different cities, Connector Marketplace can seemlessly schedule productions.”
