La Liga going Facebook Live

La Liga is set to become the first European League to appear on Facebook Live

La Liga is set to become the first European League to appear on Facebook Live.

In partnership with Grabyo, Facebook Live will stream Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao of the Spanish Women’s First Division on 28 May.

It will be the first competitive football fixture to be live streamed to Facebook by a European football league, and will be available worldwide in every country with no geo-blocking of content in place.

Grabyo is an official live streaming partner of Facebook, and is able to broadcast live streams direct to Facebook and Twitter with a URL. The stream is then tested, monitored and pushed live within the Grabyo platform through a self-serve process.

Gareth Capon, CEO of Grabyo, said, “Live streaming is the most important trend in social media this year and La Liga broadcasting a competitive fixture to Facebook is a great example of major sports rights holder using the reach, engagement and viral distribution on social media platforms to distribute their content.

“La Liga is generating millions of views with their archive footage, behind-the-scenes video and real-time content across multiple social media platforms.

“We look forward to extending our relationship with LaLiga and helping them reach new audiences around the world using social live streaming.”
