iPhone X users can watch YouTube videos in HDR

New format has quietly been rolled out

iPhone X owners can now watch YouTube videos in HDR after the platform quietly rolled out the format.

Neither Apple or YouTube have announced the development, but phone users have taken to the internet to report the new playback option within the YouTube app.

Streamers have to tap anywhere on the HDR video they’re watching, then tap the three dot icon in the corner of the screen and select ‘Quality’. From there they can choose from various HDR resolutions.

Apple debuted HDR support last year with the Super Retina display in the iPhone X, which became the first HDR OLED display incorporated into one of Apple’s smartphones.
