England’s victory over Tunisia saw three million requests to stream the match online on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport – the highest ever live viewing for any BBC programme online.
On BBC One, it attracted a peak audience of 18.3 million people – a 69.2 per cent share.
The BBC Sport website saw 11.5 million (8.8 million UK) viewers visit the site yesterday and more than two million player ratings were also awarded by users on the Player Rater.
The live viewing figures make the match the most watched TV programme of the year so far, beating the Royal Wedding.
The Monday night kick-off also saw it become the ninth most watched England match ever.
