DAZN, Sky Italia ‘in talks over satellite channel’

Channel would include content from DAZN, including Serie A matches

DAZN and Sky Italia are reportedly in talks over a new channel that would launch on the Sky’s pay-TV platform.

According to a report in La Repubblica, the channel would broadcast a selection of DAZN’s content, including the Serie A game played on Saturday night at 8.30pm, with the two sides looking to finalise a deal before the start of the Serie A season on 24 August.

Sky and DAZN currently share the rights to air live Serie A matches until 2021, with Sky broadcasting 266 matches a season live, equivalent to 7 out of 10 games per match day, and DAZN acquiring rights to the remaining 3 fixtures per match day.

The report also suggests DAZN is in talks with Telecom Italia (TIM) to add its content to the latter’s TIMvision VoD service.
