Brits spend £300 million every month on their streaming habit

Millennials are the ‘most addicted’ generation with 11.8 per cent subscribing to at least three streaming services

Brits spend £303.16 million every month on streaming services, according to new research by Mortar London on behalf of price comparison site Finder.com.

According to the figures, more than 17 million British viewers – or 41.1 per cent of the population – are subscribed to at least one streaming service. On average, people are paying an estimated £17.17 each month for the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV and HayU.

The research also found that millennials are the ‘most addicted’ generation with 11.8 per cent subscribing to three or more streaming services, costing them more than £20 per month on average.

Netflix is the most popular service, with 59.7 per cent of Brits subscribing, followed by 47.5 per cent subscribing to Amazon Prime. The Netflix subscriber figure is much higher for millennials, with 69.4 per cent believed to have a subscription.
