bitmovin provides 40 hour live stream for KroneHit

Austrian radio broadcaster KroneHit has deployed bitmovin’s cloud-based encoding platform bitcodin, in combination with the company’s bitdash MPEG DASH players to live stream a studio video feed of KroneHit’s 40 hour marathon fundraising event to support the Child’s Dream Foundation (Stiftung Kindertraum)

Austrian radio broadcaster KroneHit has deployed bitmovin’s cloud-based encoding platform bitcodin, in combination with the company’s bitdash MPEG DASH players to live stream a studio video feed of KroneHit’s 40 hour marathon fundraising event to support the Child’s Dream Foundation (Stiftung Kindertraum).

bitmovin is responsible for the transcoding, the streaming and the playout of the video stream. The live input stream is prepared and delivered by KroneHit, this input stream is live transcoded by bitcodin in five representations for MPEG-DASH as well as HLS, and streamed via a CDN to the Kronehit audience. Supporting all devices for web as well as mobile was a key requirement in this project, achieved by bitmovin’s bitdash clients.

bitcodin is an adaptive bitrate transcoding and streaming platform enabling orders of magnitudes faster transcoding than real time, the company claims. The platform is focussed on adaptive streaming formats such as MPEG-DASH and HLS, designed to enable HD and 4K quality, while keeping the distribution costs low due the usage of HTTP infrastructure.
