Amazon boosts UK kids’ library

BBC Worldwide and Amazon Prime Video have signed a multi-year licensing deal which gives Amazon subscription streaming rights to shows from the BBC’s children’s channels, CBeebies and CBBC.

The deal is BBC Worldwide’s first children’s deal with Amazon Prime Video in the UK and Ireland. It comprises more than 520 episodes of programming, with titles including CBeebies’ Charlie & Lola, and CBBC’s The Story of Tracy Beaker and Horrible Histories (pictured). The shows will launch throughout the year.

Jonathan Newman, the sales and business development director at BBC Worldwide, said: “The deal reflects the growing investment that leading streaming services like Amazon Prime Video are making to offer world-class, high-quality children’s programming to their subscribers.”
