Almost half of UK internet users stream Netflix

YouTube still tops SVoD platforms according to new survey

Netflix is now streamed by 49 per cent of internet users in the UK, according to new data from RBC Capital Markets.

In an online survey run by RBC, 32 per cent of respondents said they stream Amazon Prime Video while YouTube topped both SVoD services at 52 per cent.

“Netflix has achieved a level of sustainable scale, growth, and profitability that isn’t currently reflected in its stock price,” said Mark Mahaney, of RBC Capital Markets. “In its oldest International markets, it appears [to] be scaling to profitability just as quickly as the US market did.”

“The financial markets assume that Netflix can’t be as successful in international markets as they have been in the US,” he said. “But our survey actually shows higher satisfaction with subscribers outside of the US.”
