Speechmatics adds Turkish to its language offering

Driven by new broadcast regulations from country's regulator

Speechmatics has announced the addition of Turkish to the languages its software is able to provide captioning for.

It brings the number of languages offered by Speechmatics to 30.

According to the company, it has seen an increase in demand from Turkish content providers to provide accurate captioning, which is thought to be driven by new broadcast regulations introduced by the country’s regulator, Radyo ve Televizyon Üst Kurulu (RTÜK).

Alex Fleming, product manager at Speechmatics said: “Being in tune with the ever-changing needs of our partners and market conditions, combined with a drive to continually innovate means our language capabilities will only continue to grow.

“There will be an ever-increasing movement toward increased accessibility to all forms of media content no matter their platform or distribution channel. Similar to the US, UK and other major content production territories, captioning falls within the new compliance regulations and Turkish providers will be under significant pressure to adhere.”
