NexPlayer and Video leverage AWS for low latency

Workflow aims to reduce latency and synchronise video arrival time

NexPlayer and Videon have announced support for a new workflow that aims to reduce latency and synchronise video arrival time.

The workflow features interoperability between NexPlayer’s Android and iOS player SDKs, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elemental MediaStore and Amazon CloudFront, and Videon’s edge compute encoders.

“It’s simply a matter of letting each piece of the workflow do what it does best,” said Todd Erdley, CEO of Videon. “We take care of the computationally intense processes with our hardware and let the Cloud handle storage and distribution. Enabling this with AWS Elemental and NexPlayer ensures a great experience for customers.”

“As an increasing number of live events are viewed via OTT platforms, it has become essential for video service providers to implement low latency and video synchronisation to match broadcast quality,” added Carlos Lucas, general manager of NexPlayer. “These features can also be used to launch innovative services built around interactivity like live trivia, polls, and betting.”
