Mars 2020 Rover to use DPA Microphones

Set to record sound on Mars for the first time ever

The Mars 2020 Rover, due to touch down on Mars in February 2021, will be equipped with a selection of DPA Microphones.

The spacecraft will capture sounds from the Red Planet for the first time ever, using DPA’s Omnidirectional Microphone. The MMA-A Digital Audio Interface will then send the audio to a computer through its USB connection.

Both mics will be paired with MMP-G Modular Active Cables, acting as ultra-transparent preamplifiers.

The DPA products will be installed onto the vehicle in early 2019.
