Bauer Media launches Alexa Skills for entire radio portfolio

National brands Absolute, Magic and KISS to launch first

Bauer Media has announced it plans to launch Alexa Skills for all 69 of its UK radio stations.

National stations Absolute, Magic and Kiss will launch first with local stations Radio City, Forth 1, and Clyde 1 set to follow “very soon” and all 69 stations launching in “early March”.

Bauer says the Skills have been built to be as intuitive as possible, are tailored to consumer behaviour and aim to optimise the listening experience for Bauer audiences based on intelligent use of data.

The company said it intends to also launch additional content on Alexa such as podcasts and boxsets.

Nadia Holmes, head of digital audio at Bauer Media, said: “The Bauer radio skills for Alexa enhance the listener experience users expect in an increasingly connected home environment, and we anticipate further take-up of voice-activated devices with research from the Radiocentre showing that 77 per cent of Amazon Echo users use their devices to listen to radio. This innovation creates further exciting advertising opportunities around digital audio”.
