AWS Elemental MediaLive now offers statistical multiplexing

Maximises network efficiency by optimising picture quality for a group of channels within a fixed total bandwidth

AWS Elemental MediaLive is now offering statistical multiplexing (Statmux), a technology used in broadcast workflows that allocates bits in real time among multiple live video channels.

According to AWS, the new technology instantaneously adjusts the bitrate of each channel in the Statmux pool to make the best use of total available bandwidth and combining the encoded outputs into a single transport stream. The company said this maximises network efficiency by optimising picture quality for a group of channels within a fixed total bandwidth.
