Akamai has selected Epic Labs as a VoD transcoding media technology partner.
Epic Labs has integrated its products with Akamai NetStorage and Adaptive Media Delivery solutions for delivering the highest quality VoD end user experience. Its LightFlow Optimiser Suite helps publishers increase the perceptual quality of video content while reducing its payload; LightFlow Cloud Transcoding Services automates the transcoding tasks by automatically inheriting profiles from the Akamai platform.
As part of the vetting procedure for Akamai’s Media Technology Partner programme, Epic Labs’ LightFlow technology has been validated against Akamai’s requirements for VoD transcoding. It uses Artificial Intelligence and proprietary algorithms to optimise video workflow; it also analyses and creates a unique experience for each video playback context. The solution is based on an extensive neuronal network where millions of hours of video and user experiences have been fed into the algorithm.

Alfonso Peletier, Epic Labs CEO and co-founder, said: “Akamai has been the de-facto standard of streaming video industry for over 20 years, working together with the household names and the most successful video companies in the world.”
“This is a great opportunity for us to join forces with the market leader in video CDN arena. Our combined solutions will help many customers to reach out to their audiences with a faster go-to-market, enhanced quality, for an improved viewer engagement and direct positive impact in their business models.”
