Chyron has forged a partnership with Berlin-based MeteoGraphics, a media services provider that specialises in visualising weather and other data. The resultant melding of Chyron’s Lyric PRO software with MeteoGraphicss WeatherSuite should provide a powerful and flexible system for broadcasters.

As a result of this relationship, the companies claim that broadcasters will be able to specially create weather clips such as 3D terrain flyovers for anywhere in the world using Chyron’s Lyric PRO graphics creation and playout workflow software, and MeteoGraphics WeatherSuite content creation system for 2D and 3D weather presentations.

The latter uses radar, satellite and cloud forecast images as well as historic, observational and forecast data from standard databases. The system produces all modules of a weather program with smooth graphics and animations in broadcast quality, permitting the user flexibility in making alterations to realtime weather data just seconds before going live to air.

“This relationship with Chyron will provide broadcasters with a creative package that will allow realtime mapping by geo-referencing to any location, managed via Lyric PRO,” commented Graeme Garson, commercial manager, MeteoGraphics.

Broadcasters that already use WeatherSuite include RTL, VTM, BR, Canal+, TF1, MTV3, SF and n-tv.
