Broadcast systems integrator VSC Design has supplied and installed a Miranda Kaleido-X multiviewer system for BT broadcast services, which is based in London’s iconic Telecom Tower. The system will be used to handle and monitor BT’s MUX and upload services to third party broadcasters.
Noel Poncelet (pictured), media infrastructure technical support management, commented: “[Miranda Kaleido-X] enables us to not only monitor the picture transmission, but also provides a comprehensive alarm system; telling us, by use of colour coded warnings, if there is a problem and exactly what that problem might be, whether in audio or picture quality, etc.
“VSC provided training on the unit and the installation process was completely problem-free. It certainly seems that VSC’s recommended unit is the right one for the job.”
The Kaleido-X multi-viewers are said to offer ‘unmatched’ flexibility in configuration of display as well as ‘exceptional’ resilience. Two frames are available with up to 96 inputs and eight multi-viewer outputs (7RU), or with up to 32 inputs and four multi-viewer outputs (4RU). Kaleido-X’s advanced Metadata extraction, signal probing and alarming capabilities make it suitable for master control and headend environments. It also offers triple-rate 3Gbps/HD/SD performance, with Stereoscopic 3D support. The multi-viewer can be tightly integrated with routers to create very large and versatile monitoring systems.
