Given the huge increase in interest in social media, a new partnership from Vizrt and never.no aims to provide a coherent solution. Tools from the partnership aim to engage the audience while providing broadcasters with the means to take full advantage of this new source of content and user data. The never.no application gives broadcasters the secure editorial control to determine what social media content they aggregate, post or use on air. The data is also reshaped into a form which can be used by Vizrt’s data-driven graphics tools, as well as being fed to newsroom systems. All this happens through the well-known Vizrt user interface, so operators do not need to leave their primary application. Broadcasters can use word clouds to analyse what is trending on social platforms, and report that back to programme makers dealing with increasingly dual-screen users. Social buzz can also generate very valuable market research for honing business strategies, from setting advertising rates to making changes to programme content. Because Vizrt tools are already part of many broadcasters’ automated workflows, this new partnership makes it easy both to bring social content in to programme and to push material out to social networks to elicit viewer responses. Messages with geographical tags can be located using mapping tools already running in Vizrt.
