Dutch broadcast OB provider, Viditech Broadcast Facilities, has equipped the latest addition to its outside broadcast fleet, OBV5, with intercom products from RTS/Telex, including a Cronus 32 digital matrix, KP-12 keypanels, MCP-90-12 microphones and PH-88R5 headsets, writes David Fox.
The new OB van will be used for the coverage of sporting events, general entertainment productions and talk shows, and is designed to serve up to twelve Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras.
"It‘s a fully-equipped, and yet extraordinarily compact truck," said Jan de Pijper, Viditech's MD. "The truck is highly versatile but at the same time features powerful technology and delivers a high level of quality."
It chose systems from RTS/Telex because: "We have been working a lot with products from RTS/Telex. Furthermore, we've had uniformly positive experiences with them. They offer flawless performance and are extremely reliable, which is particularly important. You can hardly change your intercom system in the middle of a live broadcast, so you have to have 100% confidence in the system you choose," he said.
Since the installation had to be completed to a tight schedule, the ability to work closely with Axon Digital Design also proved crucial to its success. The truck was built by Dutch system integrator, D&MS, and has a single expanding side.
The first outings of the new OB truck have proved hugely successful. "The feedback has been outstanding," said Pijper.
With OBV5, Viditech was also the first customer for the new Trinix NXT Multiviewer from Grass Valley.
The OB company this year became the third-largest broadcast service supplier in the Netherlands and is a part of the Facility House group.
