Video Gateways into French DTT

T-VIPS, a Norwegian technology company that designs, builds and supplies solutions for contribution and distribution of broadcast quality video signals over IP networks, has been selected to distribute video streams for France's DTT network. T-VIPS, a Norwegian technology company that designs, builds and supplies solutions for contribution and distribution of broadcast quality video signals over IP networks, has been selected to distribute video streams for France’s DTT network. Following the awarding of a contract by towerCast, T-VIPS TVG420 Video Gateways are now deployed and live on the DTT link that towerCast operates between the Toulouse regional media centre and the Albi transmitter site.

The T-VIPS equipment was delivered through Isovision, T-VIPS’ business partner in France. “When specifying equipment for its DTT distribution link, towerCast wanted to take advantage of IP, but needed to be 100% confident that IP would provide similar quality of service (QoS) levels as traditional ATM links,” said Thierry Chanut, technical manager, Isovision. “After extensive trials towerCast were assured that the T-VIPS video gateways provide the QoS levels required in this exacting professional broadcast environment.”

“The added advantages of remote management and monitoring and the flexibility of the solution provided us with the added benefits that made our final decision on equipment vendor an easy one to take,” says J_r_me Gressier, DVB Design and Engineering manager, towerCast.
