UNIT TV installs 12 new Avid Media Composer editing systems

London post production group UNIT TV has transitioned to Avid Media Composer 6 as its facility-wide editing system of choice. Twelve new Media Composer systems will take up residence in The Cut, UNIT TV’s creative offline company.

In direct response to client demand for professional-grade editing services, full-service London post production group UNIT TV has transitioned to Avid Media Composer 6 as its facility-wide editing system of choice. Twelve new Media Composer systems will take up residence in The Cut, UNIT TV’s creative offline company.

Comprised of three specialist facilities – The Cut, The Mix and The Finish – working collaboratively under the UNIT TV umbrella, UNIT TV handles everything from offline to audio to finishing and VFX – delivering high-quality TV and radio commercials, games trailers, music videos and broadcast promos for clients such as BBH, Mother, Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA and DLKW Lowe.

The move to Avid editing systems is part of UNIT TV’s wider company vision to deliver the ultimate client experience, bring in higher-profile projects and position itself as a top-end Soho facility. UNIT TV chief executive officer, Adam Luckwell, said: “Hiring top talent, providing the best working environment, installing the most efficient client-focused workflows and investing in the premier technology all help us to deliver on our client experience promise.”

He continued: “The investment in Avid Media Composer was primarily a commercial decision to satisfy a demand driven by agency clients, and we’re already beginning to see a noticeable difference in the type of work we’re attracting. Avid is the professional industry standard editing tool. Clients expect the ultimate quality when they come into a high-end facility, and with Avid we can now deliver.”

He added: “I also had pressures internally from operations and engineering to make the change to Media Composer. It integrates perfectly with our fully networked audio, finishing and VFX systems, hooks into our central storage facility, and importantly offers frame-accurate editing – something which should be a given. And wider than this, the Avid investment has also had positive knock-on effects on our own recruitment – it is helping us to raise the bar in terms of the creative talent we can attract.”

Tom Cordiner, general manager for Avid EMEA, added: “UNIT TV is a very well-managed post facility with an exciting offering blending the best in creative talent and technical efficiency. With its new purpose-designed five-storey facility in the heart of Soho, and Avid editing and audio technology at its core, they are making a big statement to the market and we wish them every success for the future.”

The systems were sold and will be supported by Avid reseller, Jigsaw24.
