Flexibility and reliability headed up the must-have list of TRK Ukraine when it came to update its communications infrastructure at broadcast studios in Kiev and Donezk – requirements that led the company to select solutions from German manufacturer Riedel.
At both locations, TRK needed a flexible intercom solution that provided a comms infrastructure as well as offering the possibility to connect the two studios. The broadcaster also required a solution for wireless comms at the Kiev studio that provided integration into the wired intercom system.
The installation in Kiev features two Artist 128 mainframes, connected via a dual fiber ring and providing full system redundancy. Due to its modular approach, Artist systems can be expanded with additional matrices and ports to form one single matrix with sizes up to 1024 x 1024 non-blocking ports. In total, nine Artist 1000 series and 37 Artist 2000 series control panels have been installed in Kiev, with the secondary audio channel of the Artist 1000 providing digital audio in broadcast quality.
VoIP client cards enable VoIP connections to the remote Artist 32 installation in the TRK Donezk studio. The Artist 32 replaces the older Artist M system that was incorporated into the Donezk infrastructure several years ago.
The TRK outlay also includes an Acrobat digital wireless intercom system installation in Kiev that provides a wireless infrastructure of 13 beltpacks – all seamlessly integrated into the wired Artist system.
The installations were handled by Ukrainian systems integrator Comtel.
