TSL has been awarded a major contract by one of the Middle East’s leading broadcasters, Arab Radio and Television Network (ART). TSL will supply two fully equipped HD outside broadcast trucks and two associated trailers to a robust technical specification, writes Andy Stout.

The new HD OB units and trailers, which are being built by Spectra Specialist Engineering in the UK, are 13.5m in length with expanding sides. The trucks, which will be delivered to TSL for technical installation, will each be equipped for up to 20 HD cameras and will initially be configured with six channels of EVS XT2, four VTRs, Grass Valley Kayak HD vision switcher and a Studer Vista 5 digital audio console. The integrated trailer system will feature dual redundant generators.

ART, based in Amman, Jordan, is well known for its exclusive sports broadcasts. These new HD OB trucks are being built following ART’s announcement that it has been awarded the rights to broadcast the 2007/2008 Saudi Football League in HD to viewers across the world.
