We received a massive 510 online responses to our 2007 Broadcast Industry Trends Survey, conducted in partnership with Sony Professional Solutions Europe, allowing us to claim that this is by far the most comprehensive end-user industry survey ever undertaken in the European television broadcast business. You can download the survey now from www.tvbeurope.com, writes Fergal Ringrose.
Our 2007 survey addresses the following topics: How many facilities are already working in high definition?; Systems integrators in Europe: the four big names; Tapeless acquisition formats: the winners and losers; DV-based formats are replacing Beta SP, but what’s going to replace old reliable Digital Betacam?; Which vendor shapes up best overall in the content acquisition sector?; Which vendor has the best reputation in the marketplace?; What types of equipment — apart from VTRs – are you most likely to buy this year?; How are the big trade show rated by paying customers?; New media trends: which ones are important and which can we ignore? When will the talking stop and the action begin in tapeless and MAM installations? Outsourcing continues to grow in popularity – apart from playout; and a whole lot more.
Our software shows that 1153 responses were started and 510 were completed, giving a completion rate of 44%. However, the answers given by those who started but didn’t complete the questionnaire were also captured by our software, and are included in our results data.
What all this means is that our 2007 survey is not just some kind of snapshot; those numbers of respondents allow us to clearly identify the technology usage patterns and industry concerns of television broadcasters, production companies, post production facilities and systems integrators in Europe. We believe this is the definitive guide to the marketplace in 2007.
