Timeline North to handle live VTs for BBC Sports Personality of the Year

Workload split between up to six edit suites at any one time

MediaCityUK-based post house Timeline North has announced its involvement in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2019.

Using a specifically set up Media Shuttle connection between the BBC Sport archive system and Timeline, clips will be pushed into a drop folder on Timeline’s Avid Nexus, the company said.

The team will push 25 terabytes of media across the three-week stint of the VTs, all at AVC Intra 100. The workload will be split between up to six edit suites at any one time, with the preview show and VTs edited simultaneously.

Timeline North said its editing team works with Media Composer version 18.12.7, while VTs are dubbed in one of Timeline’s Pro Tools ultimate suites. Having delivered AS-11 files, the final VTs will be played out live via EVS at the outside broadcast.

The Sports Personality of the Year shortlist comprises athletes Dina Asher-Smith and Katarina Johnson-Thompson, cricketer Ben Stokes, Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton, footballer Raheem Sterling and rugby union’s Alun Wyn Jones.

The show will be broadcast from Aberdeen on BBC One (Sunday 15th December at 7pm), hosted by Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan.
