Territory Studio acquires Cantina Creative, forms new group

New company will draw from a global source of artists and studios who work across interactive experiences, such as augmented reality and holographic technology

Graphics and VFX company Territory Studio is expanding its global footprint with the acquisition of US-based design and VFX studio Cantina Creative.

Territory Studio’s credits include Blade Runner 2049 and No Time to Die.

Following the acquisition, Territory founders David Sheldon-Hicks and Nick Glover have formed Territory Group, a global collective of creative businesses.

The new company will draw from a global source of artists and studios who work across interactive experiences, such as augmented reality and holographic technology.

Cantina Creative has worked on a number of high-profile projects, including Avengers: Endgame and Iron Man 2. The acquisition adds Los Angeles and Vancouver bases to existing Territory Group studio locations in San Francisco, Barcelona, and the UK.

“Acquiring studios like Cantina Creative into Territory Group helps unlock the studio’s growth potential,” said Sheldon-Hicks. “It’s very exciting for Territory Studio and Cantina Creative as they are incorporated into the group, and this is just the start.

“As a group, we are built for scale and for success, we have an ambitious roadmap laid out for the years ahead. In the real, the virtual and the imagined world, our interactions with content and experiences are rapidly evolving, enabled by advancing technology and the new frontiers of media.”
