Telson uses Front Porch for disaster recovery

Spanish audiovisual services company Telson has built a disaster recovery site to back up its deep archive service. Like the archive, the disaster recovery system is based on the DIVArchive technology from Front Porch Digital. The archive, and now its backup, are run as an outsourced facility for a number of media companies. With the new installation Telson is the only company to provide disaster recovery for a video archive in Spain. “We have been using DIVArchive ever since we implemented our tapeless workflow, so when the time came to create a disaster recovery site, adding a second system was the logical and obvious choice,” said Alfredo Blanco, head project manager at Telson. In the new centre – which is about 6km away from the deep archive – the DIVArchive is integrated with a tape library from Quantum. The design of the system is to be largely automated and therefore transparent to users, requiring no additional operation but providing reassurance. “We essentially forget about deep storage and focus on other things, with complete confidence that the system is doing its job,” according to Blanco. “This is just the sort of trust we strive to inspire,” added Rino Petricola, senior vice president and regional manager of Front Porch Digital International. “It is gratifying to have Telson give such a strong endorsement of our brand.”
