Pro-Bel’s recently introduced large-scale routing system, Cygnus, has been chosen by Telewizja Polska (TVP) for its brand-new 20-camera OB unit. The first stage has been completed by systems integrator BFE with the truck delivered to TVP.

Initially 14 Sony HDC-1550 cameras have been installed with the other six to follow. It will also feature 12 VTRs and six EVS HD servers.

The truck is 16.5m long and 4m high with three extendable units – one for video, one for audio and a VTR/editing area. The Cygnus router is a 576 x 576 frame equipped 516 x 528 and comes SD/HD/3G-ready as standard. The Cygnus router range offers the highest density routing available using industry standard BNC connections and of course this is vital in OB construction.

BFE has been responsible for design, engineering and supplying the interior fitting, including the installation of all technical components.

“Cygnus has immediate and obvious appeal to the OB market because of the design criteria we adhered to, namely to fulfil industry requests for standardised connections in the smallest possible unit size. With 3G capabilities coming as standard, we are very happy that our achievements are immediately being recognised. We would also like to take this opportunity to recognise Studiotech Poland’s contribution to the successful specification of this project,” says Adrian Scott, chief marketing officer, Pro-Bel.
