Sogecable invests in Autodesk

Spain’s leading television group, Sogecable, has upgraded its graphics systems to Autodesk Flint 2007. The Madrid-based group, which includes Canal+ and Digital+, first invested in Autodesk systems and software last year.

It now counts six Autodesk Flint systems among its post production arsenal, alongside Autodesk Combustion visual effects software and Autodesk Cleaner media encoding software. All the systems and software are integrated transparently through the Autodesk Wiretap API.

Four of the Flint systems are installed in the graphics department of Digital+ which provides graphics for various digital channels. The other two Flint systems are installed in Channel Cuatro’s graphics department. All six systems are connected by Sogecable’s high speed network, allowing projects to be transferred between them. They also have access to the high performance centralised storage system, Maximum Throughput’s Sledgehammer, which allows the different systems to access the same material.

Reynel Marcano, technical manager at HiCOM says: “By upgrading to Autodesk Flint 2007 Sogecable will benefit from higher performance, superior tools and being able to take advantage of 64-bit architecture. With Autodesk Wiretap 2007, Sogecable’s Flint systems can be integrated with other systems like FlipFactory by Telestream, which has become the standard in encoding for TV and post-production environments.”
