Sky Sports upgrades EVS kit

Sky Sports has upgraded its EVS XT[2] servers and MulticamLSM software to incorporate HD, 3D and additional production tools, such as Epsio, EVS’ new graphic overlay system.

In an effort to enhance its live productions, Sky Sports has installed upgraded EVS servers and associated software for multi-camera ingest (including action from high-speed cameras) and live slow motion replays in the OB units of Telegenic and NEP Visions. Sky has also equipped the OB units with Epsio (pictured), EVS’ new software application, which operates with the LSM remote controllers, allowing operators to swiftly insert virtual offside lines in their instant replays and add other graphics in real time, such as arrows that measure the distance to goal, free-kick circles, team logos and the score.

Darren Long, director of operations at Sky Sports, said: “EVS provides innovative and reliable technology that produces the finest live action replays available. The reactivity and power of the systems, along with the ease of migration to 3D and the integration of live graphic tools, also explains why we continue to work with EVS”.
