Sky News goes live from reporter’s iPhone in China

Sky News has conducted the world's first intercontinental live video interview using Dejero's LIVE+ Mobile App installed on an iPhone.

Sky News has conducted the world’s first intercontinental live video interview using Dejero‘s LIVE+ Mobile App installed on an iPhone. Last month, Sky News cameraman Andy Portch and correspondent Mark Stone used the iPhone to deliver a live video interview from the centre of a censorship protest in Guangzhou, China. The Dejero LIVE+ Mobile App transmitted the video in realtime over a 3G cellular connection to television viewers in the UK. The solution and support were supplied to Sky News by Dejero’s exclusive UK distributor, IDX Technology Europe. “Our technology enables journalists to be first on a news scene and bring high-quality live footage back to their viewers that would have been impossible to capture before,” said Bogdan Frusina, chief technology officer at Dejero. “We are thrilled to be the technology behind Sky’s groundbreaking broadcast.” Dejero’s LIVE+ Mobile App gives broadcasters the ability to transmit high-quality live or recorded video from an iOS device. It uses the same patent-pending bonded transmission technology as Dejero’s flagship product, the LIVE+ 20/20 Transmitter. The app aggregates bandwidth from both the WiFi and cellular connections of the device, resulting in a higher-quality live video transmission with lower latency than a single connection can provide. The app can transmit live or recorded HD or SD video using both the phone’s front and rear cameras during a single broadcast, enabling reporters to set up and shoot a breaking news story without the need for a satellite truck, camera operator, or broadcast equipment.www.dejero.com
