A 3D on demand store is launching from Sensio Technologies to boost consumer 3D adoption. With 3DGO!, consumers across the US will, from this spring, be able to access 3D titles in the Sensio Hi-Fi 3D format.
Content titles are not specified but include “blockbuster studio titles to must-see documentaries”.
After installing the application on a connected 3DTV, consumers will be asked to select the 3DGO! service to download 3D VOD content. Neither subscription nor additional equipment is required.
“We committed ourselves to bringing added value to our SENSIO Hi-Fi 3D clients and to keeping them one step ahead,” said Nicholas Routhier, Sensio president and CEO. “We know customers want more 3D content and easy/convenient access to it. This is exactly why we are launching 3DGO!. For the first time, consumers will get easy access to the largest on-demand 3D dedicated library directly from their 3DTVs. 3DGO! is the simplest way to make good use of any 3DTV.”
Hi-Fi 3D is a frame-compatible technology for stereoscopic signal processing for integration into display products. In related company news: semiconductor firm Marvell Technology is including the Hi-Fi 3D technology in chipsets tailored to 3DTVs.
“OEMs in the consumer electronics market understand the value that Sensio Hi-Fi 3D brings to 3D-capable products,” said Atul Batra, senior director of DTV Products at Marvell. “Our new chipset incorporates Sensio technology in response to a growing demand from OEMs who, we believe, will enjoy even greater flexibility in developing high-end 3D systems for the home viewing environment.”
“Marvell ships more than one billion chips a year, and the incorporation of Sensio Hi-Fi 3D into Marvell’s 3D-capable chipsets will significantly extend the presence of Sensio technology in consumer electronics designed for the home,” added Routhier.
